About Our Bellydance Tours to Egypt
After living and dancing in the Middle East for over two decades, our first tour group from Australia to Cairo started in 1999. This year is our 10th Year of customised dance tours to the Mother Land of Egyptian Dance. The first trip was such a success and was part of the first ever Belly Dance festival in Cairo and Sharm El Sheik. The next year I assisted Raqia Hassan in establishing the First Ahlan Wa Sahlan Festival in Cairo at the Cairo Sheraton. After many yearly trips to Egypt, we have also extended some of our Tours to Lebanon, Syria, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Lots of experience and a great network of friends and business associates in Egypt – each year the trip gets bigger and better! With the assistance of Yasmina of Cairo, who is established as a dance teacher, photographer and knows the in’s and out’s of the Cairo Dance scene, (which constantly changes on a daily basis) – we are always up to date with the latest happenings and are able to bring very special events, teachers, private shows to make your trip an unforgettable journey and a trip of a lifetime! Hope you can join us this year!Amera xx
About Amera
Amera has been part of the history of Oriental dance in Australasia for over two decades. Yes – she is the Amera of Amera's Palace in Sydney! Amera started her Belly Dance career in the 80's in Sydney 's Middle Eastern night clubs. From there she moved on to live the Oriental dancers dream. She is one of a handful of “foreign” dancers who have lived, worked in and been part of Oriental Dance in its birthplace in the Middle East . Her dance career has gained Amera a rare insight into Oriental Dance, the music, the movement, the feeling that can only come from someone “inside” the Oriental Dance industry in the Middle East . Specialising in the many different Egyptian styles, she has a unique way of capturing the spirit of this sensuous and exciting dance form. Amera also owns an Apartment in Egypt, where she spends part of each year.About Yasmina
Yasmina, living and based in Cairo Egypt, has studied, performed and lived the world of oriental or belly-dance for more than twenty-five years. Originally discovering the form in Morocco in 1983, she subsequently began training in London with various teachers, and performed in many of the capital's Arab nightclubs during the late 1980's.Redirecting her style to modern Egyptian with the help of world-class trainers Raqia Hassan and Ibrahim Akef, she quickly secured a contract at the Meridien Heliopolis, where she performed for a total of three years. Yasmina has remained in Cairo ever since, appearing with her orchestra at major Cairo venues such as Safir, Pyramisa and the Semiramis Intercontinental hotels, the Nile Maxime, Tivoli Heliopolis, as well as hundreds of weddings and parties in Cairo and around Egypt.
She is a founder member of the Farha Tour, a traveling Egyptian show which has so far toured the UK twice and Sydney, Australia in 2008. Her knowledge and immersion into the local oriental dance culture has also enabled her to introduce visiting dancers from around the world to the delights of the Cairo dance scene, and she continues to provide back-up to both groups and individuals in their adventures in Egypt.
