Black Tie Fundraiser for ESMA (Egyptian Society for the Mercy to Animals)
A spectacular evening of dance and music performed by Sydney's professional dance and music artists with special guest star from Melbourne Melissa Cristina. All profits from the evening will go towards ESMA, purchasing much needed veterinary supplies. ESMA is an officially registered organization based in Sakkara Egypt. Formed in 2007 in response to a horrific shooting spree of dogs by the Egyptian government. A small group of Egyptians and expatriates came together to fight this notion of population control and to protect and rescue the animals in immediate danger. ESMA is committed to improving animal welfare in Egypt in all areas of need, including: dogs and cats; donkeys and horses; animals in the Cairo zoo; and pet shops. Between January and March 2010, Aussie Dancers for Animals raised close to $800 and collected new and used pet goods to personally take to the shelter. With the assistance of celebrity vet Dr Rob Zammit who sold us many medicines at cost price, $800 was spent purchasing veterinary medicines such as flea treatment, pain killers, puppy formula, skin ointments, worming tablets etc. Most of which are not available in Egypt. Mona Khalil and her team used these items immediately to animals who are in urgent need. Currently the shelter has 276 Dogs and 212 Cats living happily together.

Our Black Tie Event aims to raise enough money to be able to employ regular vet visits to the shelter and supply them with a variety of medical treatments not available in Egypt.
